This NeuroDignity Dialogue invites us to explore the edges within the neurodiversity conversation: the realities of gifted and twice-exceptional (2e) adults.
Have you ever met someone whose depth, complexity, perception, or sensitivity made them feel inherently different from others? Have you been one of these individuals, someone who knows deeply what it’s like to live without accurate social mirroring or compatible resources?
Giftedness and twice-exceptionality (2e) are often misunderstood dimensions of neurodivergence — both inside and outside the neurodiversity movement itself.
Too often, the richness of gifted and 2e experience is flattened — either into stereotypes, or erased altogether when it doesn’t “fit” dominant narratives about success, ability, or difference.
How might we approach understanding giftedness and twice-exceptionality, from the inside out?
As part of the NeuroDignity Dialogue initiative, created by Dr. Ludmila Praslova, author of The Canary Code, an international community of neurodivergent leaders and allies came together to embark on this deeper exploration.
The session opened the door to understanding the wide-ranging and individualized lived experiences of gifted and 2e people, all of which deserve to be acknowledged and validated.
